A young man from the small village of Emond's Field who is discovered to be the Dragon Reborn, prophesied to either save or destroy the world.

Matrim Cauthon (Mat)

A friend of Rand's from Emond's Field, known for his luck and eventually his prowess as a military leader, along with a mischievous and carefree personality.

Another of Rand's friends from Emond's Field, who has a deep connection to wolves and develops into a leader among men, known for his thoughtful and caring nature.

A young woman from Emond's Field with a powerful connection to the One Power, who rises through the ranks to become a significant leader among the Aes Sedai.

Nynaeve al'Meara

The village Wisdom (healer) of Emond's Field with a strong will and a fierce protective streak, who is also incredibly powerful in the One Power.

Lan Mandragoran

A warder and the last king of the fallen kingdom of Malkier, known for his fighting skills and his deep bond with Nynaeve.

Moiraine Damodred

An Aes Sedai of the Blue Ajah who guides many of the main characters in understanding and confronting their destinies.
