Haymitch Abernathy is a paunchy, middle-aged, alcoholic, and often sarcastic mentor to Katniss and Peeta, the tributes from District 12 in The Hunger Games series, who is also the only surviving victor of the 50th Hunger Games.

Caesar Flickerman is portrayed as the smooth-talking Hunger Games host who returns to interview the tributes, including Haymitch, before and after the Games, playing up his "rascal" charm to capitalize on the Capitol's entertainment value.

Sid Abernathy was the younger brother of Haymitch Abernathy, and their mother's second son. He was 10 years old at the time of the 50th Hunger Games.
