Rooney

Rooney is an orphan girl. She is the main character of the story.

Aiden

Trick Aiden is one of the rough-house boys. he is an orphan street thief but he has a big heart. he plays a major role.

Bridget

Bridget is the only girl of the rough house boys. but even so, she is their leader. she is known for her tough, cruel demeanor

Sorka

Sorka is a 12 year old girl who is the ruler of the magical realm. She keeps the missing children in her shadow world

She is the "dreaded thing" that stalks the town of Warybone and is responsible for the disappearance of the children. She creates the silky dark pools in the alleys of Warybone that snatch children and fling them into the Plentiful Darkness.

The shadowy figure responsible for the disappearance of the children and the creation of the starless, moonless gloom that Rooney and Trick must confront
