Roles for Lord of the Flies

Ralph

The protagonist, who is elected as the leader of the boys. He represents order, civilization, and leadership.

Piggy

alph's loyal sidekick, who is intelligent and has poor eyesight. He symbolizes scientific and rational thinking.

Jack Merridew

The antagonist, who is the leader of the choirboys and later the hunters. He represents savagery and the desire for power.

Simon

shy, sensitive boy with a deep affinity for nature. He is considered the moral compass of the group and is the first to realize the true nature of the beast.

Roger

A cruel and sadistic boy who enjoys hurting others. He becomes Jack's right-hand man and represents the darkest side of human nature.

Sam and Eric (Samneric)

Twin brothers who are loyal followers of Ralph and later Jack. They represent the loss of individual identity in the face of mob mentality.
